You know how crucial the ACT is in your high schooler's college journey. You’ve seen how hard they work, but despite their best efforts, they might not be achieving the score they need. The pressure to perform can feel overwhelming, especially when you know that just a few extra points could make all the difference in their future.

You Want to Know That Your High Schooler Will Do Great on the ACT, But How Can You Be Sure?

As a parent, it’s natural to want the best for your high schooler. Perhaps they’ve spent hours studying, tried various prep books, or even enrolled in a course—but they’re still not seeing the score improvement you both hoped for. Despite their dedication, they might be feeling frustrated, and as a parent, you feel powerless watching them struggle. You want them to succeed, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to turn for the guidance they need to make that breakthrough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to questions that families like yours usually have.

When should my child receive test prep for the ACT?

Most students should wait until they have completed Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II or they are currently taking Algebra II. Students also receive the best results when they have the TIME to devote to prep. While extracurriculars are important and have their place, one cannot give prep the last priority and hope to hit their goal or raise their score several points by not making the prep and the work involved a priority. A student who gives minimal effort will not achieve maximum results. Dripping out prep and using a “drop in” approach does not fit my business model. Prep offered by Mindful Solutions is prepared ahead of time; it is personalized and tailored to your students’ needs. Furthermore, every student is given a PLAN for SUCCESS and IMPROVEMENT which cannot be achieved by “dropping in” when there is time or catching a few hours the week of the exams. I often book out ahead of time. Plan in advance.

How is Mindful Solutions’ test prep different from others who offer large workshops or prep offered by testing centers?

When I started Mindful Solutions, my goal was to provide individualized test prep to students who needed more than an overview workshop. Often, students have unique needs that can only be addressed in a 1:1 setting where I can get to know the student as a learner and as an individual for his/her/their strengths and weaknesses. While I work with students from all backgrounds, I also have specialized training in helping students who have ADHD/ADD, test anxiety, and other needs thanks to my background in curriculum, assessments, and years of teaching in the classroom. Therefore, you get a TEACHER, not just someone looking to do this as a side gig. When you book with me, you get ME, not someone else. This makes the quality of prep consistent. Because this is literally all I do, I am very current on the content and strategies for the most recent tests and questions. Being an active member in the National Test Prep Association (NTPA), I receive monthly professional development to further hone my skills and to grow my toolbox of methods and strategies along with access to unique resources not available to non-members, which also ensures a higher likelihood of an increase in scores. At Mindful Solutions, there is no “one size fits all.”

From time to time, I do work with schools to provide local, in-person workshops and offer virtual workshops in small groups less than 20 to maintain higher quality of instruction.

Do you guarantee that my child’s score will improve?

Due to the uncertainty of standardized testing and different learning styles—not to mention that a myriad of things can happen on test day beyond my control or beyond the student’s control like sickness or proctor errors—I do not guarantee a particular increase. Generally, success is based on how much prep a student has had and if that student completes all homework and outside practice work while also making a mindful effort to learn from mistakes and my professional feedback. Generally, through 2024, around 93% of my students saw an increase in their composite scores. Most students see anywhere from 2-12 points in any given section. How much a student raises their score depends on numerous factors throughout the process.
